KIM AND PUTIN MEET IN RUSSIA

Democratic Korean leader Kim Jong Un held top-level talks with Vladimir Putin in Siberia this week. The DPR Korea leader travelled by train to meet Putin at the Vostochny cosmodrome in the Russian Far East after touring rocket assembly and launch facilities at the spaceport. This is Kim’s first trip abroad in four years and his second trip to the Russia Federation. Kim last visited Russia in 2019.

NHS as a War Zone

Next week sees the unusual spectacle of NHS consultants taking to the picket line on Tuesday and Wednesday. The details are that next Tuesday consultants will deliver ‘Christmas Day’ levels of staffing only while junior doctors will work as usual, while on Wednesday both junior doctors and consultants will deliver Christmas Day levels of staffing only.

A step in the right direction

When the USA openly called itself the leader of the “free world” American leaders were raised to Churchillian heights in the bourgeois media. General Eisenhower was, of course, a famous war-time commander who led the Anglo-American advance into Nazi Germany during the Second World War. A halo of sanctity surrounds John F Kennedy, and the Carters, Clintons and Obamas are regarded as role-models for the ‘American way of life’. Ronald Reagan and the Bush family are praised for their supposed leadership during the Cold War. Even Richard Nixon gets a look in these days.
